Fire and Roses Joker is a high variance jackpot pokie from Triple Edge Studios – released under the Games Global umbrella. It’s designed with a five-tier Progressive Wheel and a building Free Spins Multiplier at its core, and the reels are shaped around a unique 3-4-5-4-3 layout.

With 720 ways-to-win, a win-both-ways mechanic, two different bonus routes, and a maximum win potential of up to 5,000x, it looks OK – but how did it stand up during DashTickets’ testing? Let’s find out.

Theme and Look

Fire and Roses Joker takes on a kind of cabaret/burlesque visual look and feel, and you’ll see a deep velvet backdrop, flames licking up the side of the reels, and Jolene the Joker herself standing on the left-hand side of the screen. She’s holding a burning rose, and behind the reels you can see the giant jackpot wheel.

Yes, the 3-4-5-4-3 reel setup looks a little unusual, but it actually works quite well – and once you’ve played a few spins, you’ll get the hang of it all. It’s definitely one of the better-looking Triple Edge Studios releases we’ve seen – and even if the theme doesn’t really appeal to you, it’s quite good fun!

Bonuses and Features

Fire and Roses Joker is all about the bonuses, and I’ll walk you through them below:

Mobile Play Experience

Despite the unusual diamond layout, Fire and Roses Joker scaled pretty much perfectly when I tested the game on my mobile device, and I also noticed it didn’t drain much battery, despite me playing for more than 356 minutes.

That’s not to say you won’t notice any battery draining when you play – but for me, it wasn’t something I noticed. Triple Edge Studios also has game recovery technology, so if your internet connection cuts out while you’re mid-way through a spin or bonus, the game recovers the spin state when you reconnect.

Fire and Rose Joker: Our Verdict

Fire and Roses Joker may not be the most into game we’ve ever seen, but it’s a really decent effort from Triple Edge Studios, and we really like how they’ve managed to think outside the box in more ways than one. The unusual reel layout can take a few spins to get used to, but once you’re familiar with it, it feels natural.

We like the fact that it pays both ways, too. Sure, the max win potential of 5,000x won’t suit every player, but for us, this is a solid release. With the five fixed prize jackpots, each time you trigger the wheel bonus, you have a chance of hitting some solid wins.

Gambling Addiction Warning

Gambling should only ever be viewed as a form of fun; entertainment, and never a way to make money, or for financial gain. If you find yourself chasing losses, unable to stop, or expecting to win, you may be exhibiting signs of problem gambling. If, at any point, you feel that you have a gambling problem, stop immediately, check out our Responsible Gambling page, and reach out to organisations and charities like New Zealand’s Problem Gambling Foundation. Help and support is available.
